Geophysical Engineering


Geophysical Engineering is the scientific method behind locating and extracting different natural resources from the earth, including ores, minerals, precious gems, water, or gases.
Geophysics applies the principles of physics to the study of the Earth. It deals with such things as the movement of the Earth's crust and the temperatures of its interior. Some geophysicists seek out deposits of ores or petroleum; others specialize in earthquakes; still others study the water beneath the Earth's surface, where it collects and how it flows.

Geophysical Engineers utilize their extensive knowledge of the earth to identify sites that may contain special mineral or stone deposits that could be of interest to mining companies and other corporations. They then plan how the resources will be drawn out of the earth in the most efficient and environmentally friendly manner.

How do you become a geophysics ?
The job opportunities should be best for individuals with a master's degree in geophysics or a related area. To obtain this degree, the student must first complete four years of undergraduate study, typically majoring in a natural science and then complete a master's degree program in 2-3 years.
